Resident-led Community Change

Since its beginnings in 2001, SCOPE has invested in promoting resident-led efforts to bring about community-wide, positive change in Sarasota County.  These have included:

• Grassroots Leadership Initiative
• Training & Technical Assistance in Asset-Based Community Development
• Neighborhoods Initiative
• Resident Community Changemakers Fellowship

These programs and initiatives have developed from the starting assumption that the potential for broad-scale change is optimized when residents initiate and lead local efforts, and that genuine engagement is critical for positive community change.
